Ah well. These are the things that make me cry myself to sleep. Someday I'll be rich and have a field full of rescued VWs.

This is the real most hipster car.

The first car I ever owned was a blue '88 Fox wagon with a 4-speed. I loved it, both because I'm a VW guy and it was the first car that was MINE (after I repaid my dad for it, with interest). I learned how to change my oil and do my own plugs on that car. I donated it to charity after 13 years and 175k miles. The interior had gone to shit in true VW fashion, but it ran and ran and ran. And the AC still worked, though the ducts had become warped from the TX heat and it only blew out of one vent. Thank god I was living in TX; anywhere else and it would have been a pile of rust after a few years.

Nice! I think we all hold a little love for our first "real" car, the one we paid for and worked on.

LOVE IT. had this car for college. I wanted a Subaru GL Wagon but my father didn't want me "carting all of my friends around."
I miss you baby

Nice! Both this and the GL wagon are very sweet indeed.

Old post, but I figured I would let you know this inspired me to find one. 600 bucks with a set of GTI snowflakes with new michelins, and a set of steelies with snows. Little rust but low miles. Shines up nice too!

Awesome! Go take it out in the snow!
